Flower of the Day: Hellebores

Hellebore
Hellebore

Hellebores are my favorite winter/early spring flower! They are also called the Winter Rose, Christmas Rose and Lenten Rose, although they are not related to the rose family. I love this plant because it looks so good in my Woodland Garden, and blooms so early and then has an attractive leathery foliage the rest of the year! AND the best of the best, the deer won’t eat it!

This is just one of the flowers to be added to Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge.

These are just gorgeous. What a coincidence to see them on your blog this morning. I just had my backyard landscaped, and I saw a plant the gardener picked out was called “hellebore”. I never knew this plant. (but I had heard of it with the unusual name)

the first one is a real beauty and has a very extraordinary color. We have a lot of different colors, too, in our garden.
