Friday’s Foods of the World: Drink Up

Today, it’s all about drinking! Mostly juices, but sooner or later you get to the other drinks too! The juices that are found in the little pop up bars are my favorites! This is just such a place on the beach in Budva, Montenegro!

and what are we drinking? Fresh squeezed watermelon juice! Absolutely fantastic!

In Stockholm, it’s all about oranges……………lots and lots of oranges!

It doesn’t hurt to have a dessert with your orange juice either!

In Split, Croatia, there were portable juice bars, that could be moved around………..the pineapple juice, peach juice and orange juice were awesome! Why do they taste so different here?

And there were bakeries that featured juices…….

Or even a nice cold COKE! With a slice of pizza even!

Here, we combined a taste for wine and a juice drink………….

One of the most fun tastings was the Grappa in a winery way, way, way out in the countryside of Croatia! That stuff will take the hair off your chest!

But, you could compare that to a nice Kumquat Liqueur from Corfu!

  1. We nearly called our site something like “drinkingourwayroundtheworld” when we were thinking of a title. Your post here captures the theme rather nicely, I can almost feel that cold Ozujsko slipping down my throat on a hot Balkan afternoon!

All those oranges in Stockholm stopped me in my tracks. I thought it was more likely Seville!

I’m with Margaret (above). I never associated Sweden with a surfeit of oranges and those two pix knocked me out. I would have sworn somewhere in Spain or even Sicily, but Stockholm???? Great selection of drinks nicely photograhed.

Your offerings look loads more appetising than mine this week: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/skun-cambodias-spider-town/

I love good fruit juice. I had the best ever in Ecuador but like the others I wouldn’t have expected Stockholm to be that good for juice – the photo looks like it should be in Italy 🙂

    1. I would have to be starving to give these a go……..I hope I am never in that situation……I wonder if they sell them all in a day? Do the Cambodians still eat them or is it a painful memory? O,r is it a way to bring in tourists? Thanks for joining in again this week! I will be traveling again and everything will be put on hold for a few weeks! Cady

Me too! But I believe the locals do still eat them although I’m not sure whether I saw anyone actually doing so 😉 Enjoy your travels – I’m just a tad jealous! Does that mean no Just One Person to link to on Wednesday?

      2. I’m linking this next week, but won’t have any links May 12th. I will add them all the following week, when I return! All my grandkids graduating from college or grad school this weekend! Then on to a week’s vaca! Yeah me! Cady

I enjoyed this jaunt around the world for drinks, Cady!
As part of my holiday ritual, I like to have a special drink (non-alchoholic because I am allergic) on each trip!

    1. I like to try (new to me food and drink) as long as it is not too bazaar! Like the spiders and stuff! Cady

I hear you Cady – no spiders, scorpions or worms for me anymore (I’m afraid my Dad was very keen for us to try all these creepy crawlies when we were young so I did) – I am now happily vegetarian (mostly).

  7. Ah, love your photo’s … and love fruit juice! I remember the freshly squeezed orange juice we had on our Camino in Spain – after walking 20km under the hot sun, a glass of cold orange juice from one of the pop-up bars in the field, was the best thing ever for that day … that is until we got to the first ice-cold beer!
