Challenge Your Camera: In the Kitchen

Today, for the Challenge Your Camera theme, we’re to be in the kitchen photographing………as I receive the notices of the challenge at 10:30 PM or so (due to time differences) I was in my kitchen snapping away around 11PM…….No cooking at that time, mind you, so it never crossed my mind to photograph a  gadget or appliance! I went for the decor! My husband came in and thought I’d gone nuts! (It’s not the first time)

I decorate my rooms for the Seasons! Especially the kitchen……….but I have just started taking down my Valentine decor and moving on to the Spring Decor…..  so here is a little bunny …….

The Rabbit in Color

My kitchen colors are gray, white and black……so to play, I thought I would take the color photos and convert them to shades of black and white…..AND Dr B you will NEVER believe what I discovered! Can you see it in this photo? When I went to convert the photo, it left the candle in color! A Color Splash! Yeah! There were all kinds of black and white shade filters to choose from and one did this! Hallelujah! There is an easy way to Color Splash!

The Rabbit in Color Splash!

Then I went for the lantern ……….in color…….I just have to take the snow out of the bottom of the lantern and replace it with grass and add a plant into the parsley crock…….replacing the red flowers. you see…. and add some more bunnies, and on and on …………….

The Ambiance!

Over to the cottage shelving in another part of the kitchen……..all the red will be replaced this week with pastel colored stuff!

The Shelves!

And here is the same photo in another Black and White filter………no color splash on this one!

Challenge Your Camera, 2021

I may come back at the end of the week and update this post once I have all my Spring goodies on display…….That post will likely be on the Features of your posts for the next week!  Thank you Philosophy in Photography for suggesting this theme!

Yep, I did come back …….I don’t have Spring decor done yet, but if you would like to see some of my decor for Christmas and Valentine’s Day that I did…look Here

Having way loads of fun with your challenge Dr B ……..its like a chocolate box…….you never know what you are going to get!

I hope you have enjoyed my KITCHEN!

Won’t you join Dr B and The Buddha Walks Into a Wine Bar for the latest challenge? He writes………..

Photography is one of those activities we can all have fun with and blog about, at home, in the garden, walking the streets, in the countryside, in a museum or gallery ….. the opportunities are endless. You can be a wizard or a novice with a camera or a smartphone, or a crafty manipulator with Photoshop, or Lightroom or Snapseed. It really doesn’t matter how you create your image because in the end it is a work of art, a creation, a memory, and possibly a source of inspiration to others. Blogging your images is easy too, few words needed, let the picture tell the story. And, very importantly in these strange times, it can give us a distraction, a positive focus, connect us with others, and build a community via our blogs. So why not join in, start snapping and sharing with me.

Each week Dr B is selecting a single theme to point his camera at or display a few photos from his collection as a way to brighten up the week as we enter a new year, which we all hope will be brighter than the last. If you would like to join him in #challengeyourcamera then here’s what to do:

1. Follow him to discover the weekly theme he has chosen.
2. Select a few photos related to the week’s theme
3. Post your own photos that week, any day you like.
4. Include a caption with each photo so we know what/where it is
5. Include a ping back/link to his blog in your post so that he is notified, can follow you back and can appreciate and comment on your choices.
6. Include the tag #challengeyourcamera

1. He will follow you back
2. He will encourage other posters to follow you
3. He will list each blogger in my weekly post

Your kitchen looks a lot more organised than ours! I’m not pointing fingers but my wife is a whirligig in the kitchen. Brilliant cook but leaves quite a trail in her wake, the kids would run for cover if it was curry day!
So, an accidental colour splash, I told you it was a useful technique! Looking forward to your additions, it seems like Guess The Gadget has become a supplemental theme 👍👨‍🍳

    1. I am just slow this morning and working my way up! Getting ready to make Chinese for dinner later today! And making sure I have all my ducks in a row for OPFATW tomorrow! People respond with their posts everywhere and I have to search for them because I don’t want to leave anyone out! I am very tidy…….always have been……I think my profession added to my cleanliness attitude too……I have tried to read the gadget posts, but some of them wouldn’t load right, for whatever reason. Will try again later…..Very interesting with Marilyn’s post!
PS You know? I have never had CURRY!

Whaaat? Never had a curry! We have Asian food probably 2-3 times a week on average. Not everything is a “curry” though 👨‍🍳👨‍🍳

I enjoyed the tour of your kitchen, but what a long time you must have spent photographing all those nice things. My kitchen is quite tidy, I think, as I can’t work in a mess, but I’m not a lover of kitchens or cooking. I haven’t thought yet what to photograph yet Will give it some thought today.

    1. Mari, I love to cook, but I have to have tidy! I could not get anything done if my house was in disarray! I’m just that person……….Cady

Like Maris I’m still considering what to post for this challenge but I don’t think it will be photos of my own kitchen 😆 Yours is lovely, and how cool to decorate it for each season 🙂

    1. Sarah, I have collected so many things and kept them through the years that I like bringing them out once in a while! So, I just rotate them through the seasons all over my house! Brings back such memories too! Cady

It’s a great idea 🙂 I have a lot of bits and pieces too and many of them on display in my kitchen, but they’re travel souvenirs rather than seasonal. I leave them out all the time and just keep adding to them – rather to my husband’s frustration at times!
