Today, we are flying (virtually) to the Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee for the outdoor exhibit of Dale Chihuly. Once a year, the American, glass sculptor, picks one garden to feature his very large-scale pieces of glass. We were excited about this, because we have never been to a Chihuly event and never been to Cheekwood Gardens either. Today, I will feature some of the yellow Chihuly pieces. And some of the garden yellows!
My first thought, on the very, very, very large pieces of glass was, how long does it take to assemble the pieces once they get to their destination? They have a stabilizing center pole and each glass piece is placed in a specific hole. Similar to putting a Christmas tree together! I got up close and looked! MY second question was, how many pieces break in transit? Since we visited during COVID there weren’t curators in the garden to answer my questions! Darn!
Here is another Chihuly piece! You can see how large they can be! The previous photo just showed the bottom of a piece close up!
The ornamental peppers are planted en masse completing a ring around the flower beds! It was quite cheerful!
There were a bazillion orchids in the greenhouse garden………
and you can never go wrong with a daisy!
I hope you have enjoyed my YELLOWs today! See you next week!
Hey Jude says: To add your photos to this challenge, look on at the tab below and post on Sunday’s! Won’t you join us? Here are the Guidelines!
Each Sunday post one or more photos for the chosen color of the month. If you want to join in then simply post your color photos and link to a comment or via a pingback. Together, with the tag colour21, your posts can easily be found in the Reader.

What a yellow feast! I’ve never seen any Chihuly works in the flesh, but these photos make it look as though I’m going to have to try to.

Oh, we waited a good while for the Chihuly exhibit to come to a garden near to us! We drove 7 hours to see it! And it was definitely worth it!

Aside from the daffodils, there’s not much yellow in my backyard! Love those daisies – are they Black-eyed Susans?

Wow! Very similar but different! I wonder if there is way they mix and match the pieces?

We saw the Chihuli exhibit at Biltmore in Asheville two years ago, I think. It was fantastic.
