The Winter months in Norway are dark and long……………..What better way to spend the dark, dark hours of the night,  but to focus on winter stories! Many of these stories include mischievous sprits, elves, trolls or witches……..

In the Nordic countries it is said that witches roam the land during the darkest month of December. Brooms had to be hidden, so they could not be stolen for a Christmas night joy ride!

Yet, other versions of the story suggest placing the broom outside the house so the passing witch might make use of it to clean up!

Another Nordic tradition encourages early preparation for Christmas………..the hiding of all cleaning implements as a symbolic act to remind the family to rest from work and enjoy the holidays…….. I really like this tradition, don’t you?

So, whether you place the broom inside or out or just hide all your cleaning supplies, it is all good …….just do it!
