We’ve been exploring the outside of Bodrum Castle in Bodrum, Turkey. Will we find some doors?
How about this view through a door and through the window?

You’re not going to break down this door too easily!

The chapel was turned into a mosque when the Turks defeated the Christian Knights in 1522. They added the minaret too. I enjoyed looking over the pots and pieces in the courtyard!

More about those funny shaped pots in a future post!

The sun was blazing down on us…………

The minaret looked to devour us!

There was a door on the minaret………..

with pigeons…….

We walked up higher and higher……….

and found fancy writing on the chapel cornerstone………

We found a few trees here, when we were trying to escape the blazing sun! And, found some doors to a shed……..

There were the tools of the trade and the previews of the exhibit in the Castle……. (the Castle now is home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, one of the largest museums in the world of its type) The long hooky things are anchors and the stone pieces on the walls are weights.

and another landing going higher up to another part of the castle. Remember, each group of knights had their own section of the castle………….

We saw a few shortish flowering trees.

Up close and personal.

I hope you have enjoyed some of the doors at Bodrum Castle! If you would like to learn more about the Castle see THIS.

I love your opening shot through the door and window, Cady. And thanks for the explanation about the weights. They had me wondering.

Loved the details on the door on the Minaret, and the close up of the purple blooms. Such beauty in the details!
