Walking Home in Oslo: Well That Would Mean to the Hotel

We’re still walking back from Vigeland Park……..Wow, what a day we’ve had, and as not to walk through the same neighborhood twice, we are going down different streets to get back to the hotel. I think we are in the Briskehy neighborhood (don’t quote me on that) and it is more laid back! My kind of neighborhood! There is an angel in the garden………….with her back turned to us…….I hope that is not some kind of sign!

There is a gal dancing in her nighty in this garden…………..what can that mean?

Then, we came upon some more of the neighborhood shops……..this one, a natural food store………

And, a neighborhood market…….I wish I wasn’t too pooped to go in, but on we tread……….

Lots and lots of fresh vegetables and fruits………..

And, then another Sampson’s Bakery……….OK, I have to sit and enjoy a taste of something!

I look over the counter……….

I look up at the lighting……………and I’m watching that lemonade with interest, out of the corner of my eye!

OK, we picked out two treats……..guess which one is mine?

Now, this is very decorative…….the only one we saw!

Maybe a round balcony for you? I think it must have been an add-on, but I can’t say that I’m crazy about it!

I’m thinking the red house is for me!

  4. Would mind sharing a hunk of the cinnamon-sugar twisted roll with me? With a good cup of Starbucks coffee ~ or does Norway have any Starbucks shops around?

    1. I didn’t see a Starbucks, but there were a lot of WB Samsons! Those bakeries were everywhere, even in the small neighborhoods!

Nice walk, and did I spy a cinnamon bun there? Scandi pastries are great because they are never too sweet for my taste and with their lovely coffee, they go down a treat!

    1. No, none of their pastries have a lot of sugar!

  6. A very interesting neighbourhood! The bakery, those very unusual balconies, and the ornate lamp post (?). Lovely architecture. The red house is stunning!

    1. Oh! We REALLY loved NORWAY! It ticked all the boxes for us! We have a trip to Ukraine scheduled for May!!!! That and other countries…..but somehow that may be re-routed…….not sure where we will end up. I’d go yo Norway again in a heartbeat!

      1. Friends of mine toured there, and absolutely loved it! It was their final tour overseas! I personally think they had more travel years ahead of them! My Dad’s final overseas trip was here to Australia, at the incredible age of 94. My brother has an Ukrainian friend, and some of the photos from there are incredible!

      2. We have booked a 43-day cruise in January, 2024 from Sidney, Australia to Hong Kong! We will be spending about a week in Sidney, prior to the cruise and a week afterwards in Hong Kong! I will be 75 then! OMG! Regent Cruises (the only cruise line we have ever used) are booked years in advance now! This years trips were booked a year and a half ago! I wanted to go to Australia and New Zealand years ago, when I was younger because that flight will do me in I’m sure! But Nooooooooooo, so we are doing it in 2024!

      3. Oh how exciting, and something you will be looking forward to! What a great way to celebrate though, as you will have special memories from that trip! The flight will be loooonnnggg. I find the flights overseas exhausting, and I tend to drift off to sleep as soon as we are airborne! You have many many years of exciting travel ahead of you, and lots of good memories too!
