Thursday Doors: Another Peek at Oslo

We walked from the Continental Hotel, in the Theatre District, to the Royal Palace, and on, through two neighborhoods to get to Vigeland Park ………These photos are from the first neighborhood after the Palace and from my map, if I’m reading it correctly (a big if here) the first neighborhood is in the Uranienberg block. I called it the Fancy Neighborhood! There is a lot of new construction here! Notice what you get here, when you dig down………solid rock!

The Fancy Neighborhood has wide boulevards and small boutiques. And VERY IMPRESSIVE architecture! The single stand-alone home area, suddenly turns into this……..

This door was different because of those knoblike frills!

This building intrigued me………How do you go about decorating a room that shape? It was wonderful because the downstairs business was a bakery! You can’t walk very far in these neighborhoods, before coming across the neighborhood bakery and coffee shop!

More of the attached buildings………

And, another bakery!

More tiny shops tucked away!

and more fancy architecture………..

This door caught my eye! I loved the way the ivy crept to the door……..

The street is narrowing …………..This is the landscape of the neighborhood! Row after long row now! Just one beautiful building after another!

And, another look of the building terrain……….not exactly eye level with your neighbor! Is that built up, round piece of mortar and rock, an old pillbox left from the war? Don’t want to get rid of that!

Another design ………

This is how they plug in their electric cars in the hood………they can’t all pick the same day!

And, I had to get a photo of the mail truck!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing a few more doors in a neighborhood of Oslo! See you next week in another spot! Cady

  1. Oh, this is such a beautiful neighbourhood! And a few bakeries will definitely turns a normal day into a great day 😉. My favourite … the white door at the boutique (and the mail truck)!

Fancy is right, Cady. Not many poor people living there! It’s certainly a treat for the eyes. That creeping ivy made me smile. It got to the door but it won’t be allowed in! Love it!

Oslo looks such a great place to visit, it’s never been on my list of places but after seeing your photos it is now! I imagine it’s an expensive city though

  5. You link to Dan’s post that is two years old! I thought so since your post was not included in the comments under this post, so I have missed your doors! I’ll look around for your other door posts. A certain green one in this post is rather special.

    1. Yes, I link back to the original instructions Manja……so the folks will know what to do. I find his weekly posts are hard to find on his website, as you have to scroll all the way to the bottom in the tags. Cady

      1. I see. Well, in this case, if you don’t leave your link in a comment under his current post manually, not many can find your doors because there is no pingback. I’m just glad that I happened to see your post anyway.
