Just One Person From Around the World: The Guides and Entertainers

Welcome to Just One Person From Around the World!

This week I am featuring a few of the guides and hosts from our cruising travels! I have felt so bad about COVID and the HARDSHIPS it has brought to many! These lovely folks, who made our trips come to life with their expertise and knowledge of their beautiful cities, have been without a job for over a year now! How have they survived? Will they go back to their old positions soon? Or, will they have moved on to new jobs or just decided to give it all up? I am hoping now that the cruise ships are allowed to go again in July, leaving from the US, that they will once again take on their guiding and hosting roles! Thank you ALL for making our trips a treasure to remember forever!

Feel free to join Just One Person From Around the World  by creating your own post and then share your link in the comments! Also, add the tag JUST ONE PERSON FROM AROUND THE WORLD to your post so it is easier for me to find! Thank You!

Our Cruise Director on the Seven Seas Explorer made sure EVERYTHING was the way we wanted it!

The Guide in Porto, Portugal was always smiling! He was more than happy to share Porto with us!

In Geirangerfjord, Norway, we went to a goat farm way, way, way, way up the mountain and through the woods! Here is the Polish young man, who along with his wife, came to tend the goat farm all summer! What a keeper!

I know some of the restrictions are less severe in some parts of the world now, and some are not…….so let’s keep on remembering, what we can do to get our lives back after COVID! Life goes on!

I am enjoying pouring over my photos to find us everyday folks! I know all of you have met wonderful folks, who have made your life more enjoyable. We must keep pressing on! Won’t you join in? To see how all this started look at Just One Person From Around the World!

Here are the Contributors from last week! If I missed anyone, please let me know! These were awesome and you won’t want to miss a one! Every week the stories get better and better! The stories along with the photos are priceless!

    1. Oh, you are so right,IJ! When we are at home we miss traveling and then when it came to a complete stop we missed it even more! Hopefully, everything will turn around soon for all of us and we can see the places we have missed again and then yearn to get back home! What a cycle! Thanks for sharing this week again! Cady

    1. You and me both! We have our cruises booked and the time for them can not come around soon enough for me! But, I do have to say my garden has NEVER looked so good! (Where we now spend our days between little trips here and there!) Cady

I’ve been concerned too about the many people we’ve met on our travels who rely on tourism for their income. So many great guides in particular – you remind me that I should feature some of them in future posts. Meanwhile today I am taking you to meet Salma in Oman: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/lunch-with-a-bedouin-family-in-oman/

    1. Oh, I too miss the markets and the people! I am a people watcher and these are the BEST places to get a glimpse of the locals and non-locals too! Cady

  7. A good guide can really bring a place to life and we feel so much for them at this time. At the start of the pandemic we travelled down the Mekong in Loas for 2 days, our guide and the crew were so helpful yet there were just 6 of us on the boat. Despite their enthusiasm to please us, there was an underlying sadness, after all, their careers and income stream were on the line

  8. A lot of people involved in making a cruise memorable. Many of whom aren’t employed right now, but will be soon again. Wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing!

I know you said you were away last week but I haven’t been able to find a post from you this week either. But I couldn’t wait any longer to share another amazing character with you so I’ve linked back to this page again.
