Friday’s Foods of the World: Cruise Desserts

We have booked two more cruises! YEAH! Now, let’s hope they are not cancelled! We are way more than over lockdowns and masks and social distancing! We are vaccinated up and ready to go……..but the cruise ships are still in lockdown for the most part in the US until January 2022……but they are booking again and there are wait lists for many of the destinations! So, for today’s Friday’s Foods of the World, lets remember some of the desserts to be had on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer and the Regent Seven Seas Voyager! When you first board, you are offered champagne and a dessert! My first thought, when I studied this pudding delight, was that the little white puff of cream might be an ice berg and the cruise ship was headed strait  towards it! Now, I’m just going to put all such thoughts aside and eat it!

When you get to your room, there is a bottle of champagne waiting for you! Drink up!

Everyday, at every meal, there is a dessert bar in every restaurant, snack bar and coffee shop…………..they are set up elegantly like this……

In the Sette Mari Restaurant we chose these……..Very Neapolitan in the Italian Restaurant!

Another day hubby ate this……

some days there were themed dessert bars……..like the cheesecake bar or the cookie bar or the cupcake bar……

We choose these cupcakes from the Cupcake Bar, one afternoon………..

In the afternoon, the butler, leaves snacks for you, after your excursions………The staff knows you by name and get to know, quickly, what kind of desserts you prefer………and can set the dining room in your suite if you prefer……

This is the other area you want to get to know very well………..

and the running /walking track all around the top deck is your best friend early in the morning or late at night!

I hope you have enjoyed some dessert with me today! It is also good to know that the food is also catered to the cruise. If you are in the Mediterranean you are offered that cuisine and desserts, etc, in at least one of the restaurants or a little taste of that cuisine is on the menu at any of the onboard restaurants. Also, there is a Cooking School on board the Explorer. For any destination, you can learn to prepare, cook, present and serve, the foods and drinks from the area you are cruising. Fabulous!

PS I was one of those people who said, I WILL NEVER CRUISE! Our friends convinced us to just try one cruise with Regent Seven Seas Cruises and see what we thought. We now have booked our sixth and seventh cruise, back to back, and usually travel on board for a month. We also get extra days at the front end of the cruise to adapt to time changes and aviation. We also add post-stays of 5-7 days at the end, before we return home. Regent Seven Seas Cruises are all about luxury….everything is included in the cost of your cruise. Free 1st class airfare, free hotel and baggage transfer, free pre-or-post hotel accommodations, all the food and drinks are free, and all the excursions are free (there are numerous excursions to pick from, depending on your level of activity)  The ships are medium sized and allow for 500 passengers…….You are truly treated like royalty!

Here are some more Foodies for this week from  my fellow bloggers! Enjoy!

I don’t know what to say! Phenomenal comes to mind. What luxury and nice to hear you have booked another one. Do the ships allow for the extra weight of the passengers after all that cake 😅. We’ve been on a couple of cruises, nothing like this one though

    1. You know, I don’t seem to put on any weight during the cruise because of the excursions I guess! We keep very busy, going to see everything. I would probably rather have a dessert that eat a full meal too! Ha Ha! Cady

    1. We too, went to Albania and I can say we had one of our best meals there in Berat! Did you get there? They are trying very hard to get tourists there…….Those dishes are right up my alley! Love them! Thanks for sharing again this week! I will have some posts from Berat coming up in the future! Cady

  4. Well as it happens, we’re not dessert people either. We’d be walking straight past that sweet table and heading for the savouries! As foodies, we sometimes think we’re missing out by not eating much sweet stuff so we do our best to make up for it with everything else!

    1. I don’t think there are too many things I don’t like, as long as I can identify them! If and when, I ever get to Asia it will be a test! My friend, Ju-Lyn, from Singapore, is enlightening me on their foods and I am making a folder, so I will know what’s what! Plan ahead I always say! Cady

      1. We’ve eaten quite a lot of strange things on our travels; we are pretty brave and experimental, just not big fans of sweet stuff!

The high life! I’ve never cruised, and I don’t know if I could eat that much, but I might be game to try. 🙂 🙂 For me it’s all about the destination. Food isn’t a ‘biggie’, but our friend Frank won’t believe me.

    1. I can tell you cruising completely changed our way of thinking about travel……I think as we got older it was harder to drive everywhere and we always went to more than just one place to stay. Then, there ALWAYS was the parking issue in most places, and parking not so near your overnight stay so we were lugging luggage over cobblestones and up many, many stairs……..blah blah blah!, every day three days or so. I guess what this means is that we’re finally getting old and cranky! Cruising is landing at the airport, being picked up and being taken care of……….never saw the luggage again, until it was in our suite unpacked and put away! Then to wake up, not only in a new spot every morning, but most times in a new country, Heaven! I also LOVE the history lectures, every day…….that’s how I learn so much about what I’m seeing! The lectures on different topics about the countries you will be visiting are streamed right to your room! Just sit back, enjoy that dessert, and learn! Cady Ps I love getting the suntan too!

I have a horror of being confined with lots of people and sharing a table with people I don’t like. Pretty intolerant, aren’t I? 🙂 🙂 And then you have seeing things in a crocodile, and the business of getting on and off the ship. Or have I got that wrong? Nearest I’ve come is a gulet cruise with 10 others, off the coast of Turkey. I have to say, I loved it!

      2. No business to gettin’ on or off, it is scheduled. When they pick you up at airport they take you to hotel, the next day, or whenever you want, depending on how many pre-days you have, you are taken to ship in groups of twenty or so……your room ready, no waiting…….They board and get off like this is at every port……very small number of passengers is the key! Cady PS You don’t have to share a table either……we do sometimes, but mostly not…..I didn’t understand the crocodile thingy! Cady

I’m becoming more of a dessert person these days but I’d still rather have more savoury stuff I think. However these do look yummy so I’d have to leave room for just a little one 😆

    1. Ok, we went from desserts to bugs in one quick blog post! Ha Ha!
Oh my! I don’t know if I could eat any of that….if that was my only diet……..hmmmmm, I guess I would, but I think I’d eat flowers first……They ate the bulbs of all the flowers in St Petersburg, Russia, during WWII to keep from starving, well many still starved! I hope this is never anyones “Only Choice” again………
I am going to feature some Food Walks soon also, but mine will be much tamer! and SOUTHERN! Cady
