I have stopped watching the news….I have dropped all social media, except for my blog, which I try to keep to positive vibes…. there are a lot of folks in the world, who are everyday folks, just trying to provide food and shelter and love……….they are trying to make a living…….keep their kids educated and basically just take care of their families, without an agenda. Me too. I think there is more of us…. Just trying to live our lives….. So, I would like to take the time to focus on one person a week to bring us together, to celebrate ordinary folks.

Of all the things that I missed over the LOCKDOWN……. the one thing I missed the most, was sitting or strolling in a garden and talking with other gardeners. …………….Most of the garden tours have been shut down or opened without any docents….so if they were open you just wandered along, looking. If you met someone along the path you made a wide girth and kept moving along…..No stopping to linger, no talking…….mask pulled up taut……..What kind of way is that to see a garden? For today’s photos, I have chosen two gardens, with the folks enjoying themselves…..Hopefully we will be back to that soon! I’ve missed friendship and interaction with other folks ! What do you miss most?

Geri what is your name? What am I to call you? I keep calling you Geri and then I read…. that was the name of your boat! And I thought, oh my gosh, I’ve been calling her the name of the boat all along! I too was going to ask you what maniok was…….it looks very long rooted from the photo! Kind of like a carrot! What do I miss the most? Well, as an introvert, it’s not the social interaction! But I’m a person full of curiosity ….. I try to do different things across every day. Some local some afar. Visit historic buildings, go and sit in a bar for an hour, drive to a new vineyard, go into the village library, wander around a few shops …… it’s the loss of freedom to just wander about, never aimless, always with something in mind.

I am so ready to travel! As soon as I have my second vaccine the middle of next week I am outta here! The restrictions are really coming down fast….and all different depending on where one lives!

It’s sad, isn’t it? No such thing as relaxed in strangers company any more. That sidestep off the curb replacing the smile. I still beam at people from behind my mask but it loses impact somehow 😦 😦

Yes, simple human interactions, the ability to see friends and family – travel – all of those. Unlike Sheree I don’t miss sport one little bit! Just one, becomes many! I loved the policemen photo and that pink building! My favorite color for a building of any kind is PINK! I was saved by a policeman in Paris once, so I have a great respect for the French police, well all policemen! I was having severe trouble and he showed up out of nowhere and took the situation in hand! And all I could think to say was Merci! And he kept asking me if I was alright or if I needed an ambulance and I just kept saying merci! He must of thought I was daft! Or a stupid American! Lovely post as always! I am missing my friends in person, as opposed to Zoom or FaceTime, and other social interactions. Meeting for coffee, or meals out…..or wandering in a garden

Lolawi, It looked like he offered a lot of different stuff; candy, bags, dolls, clothes and table cloths!!!!!! This just reminded me that when I was in Budapest I met a group of sisters (they said they were sisters, only one spoke English) in the park selling table cloths! They said they made them themselves by hand. I have never seen others like them in the shops, so I guess this was true) I’ll have to see if I have a photo of them! I bought two and still have them! Oh, I could give you too long a list of things I miss – meeting up with friends, cinema, coffee-shops, browsing shops … But most of all, travelling 😦
I was just saying to my husband yesterday, I wonder how long it will take after the pandemic has passed for us to feel comfortable close to other people? At the moment we’ve all learned to instinctively veer away as we meet someone on a path, step aside if it is narrow, and so on. Will we be able to drop those behaviours immediately or will they have become engrained?

Oh my gosh! How interesting……..do you think they are wearing masks or social distancing? Or just trust the phi to protect them…..at all times?…..Do they even know about COVID? This was a great post as always! I think their life is much simpler and less complicated in a lot of ways! I miss traveling too and like I told Dr B, I am outa here the first chance I get! We have been looking at the cruises again but most will not be up to going the places we want to go to until 2022. I need something way before then, don’t you? Cady

I miss visiting with friends in person, browsing in garden and book shops, going OUT to Starbucks . . . and those spring garden tours.

Oh, wouldn’t it be nice to go to a bookshop and have coffee WITHOUT A MASK? I can’t wait to get that thing off! I am booking in all the months, once I have my second vaccine next week…..I think there will be a mass exit to anywhere, for a lot of peeps! I don’t care where I go at this point, but I am thinking the 100,000 bulbs at Cheekwood might be a good start! And, I ain’t wearing that mask either! Well, maybe I will if I HAVE TO for now! Cady

It‘s become a mad world and a world in which I certainly don‘t want to live. If it‘s not possible anymore to sit on a garden bench with someone…how sick is that? I‘m like a lot of people trying to stay sane in a crazy world – let‘s hope our good vibes will (and good sense!) will win in the end. stay strong 🙌

Yes, I can’t bear to watch the news…….it is all so depressing for me and I don’t want to hear it! I keep myself positive as much as I can and keep the negative stuff at bay! It amazes me how easy it was to convince us this is the way to live! And to go on for another year? There is no way…..I get my second vaccine next week (for better or worse) and that mask is coming off and I am going somewhere! Every state in the US has different rules…….I will go to a restriction free state if necessary! Just sayin! Cady

That is what’s missing for many people, the human interaction. There is a lot to miss, like travel, winery visits, restaurants, hanging out with friends, hugs … even just zipping in to the grocery store quickly is a chore nowadays.

Such beautiful gardens with so many flowers. Maybe because of our climate and harsh winters, we don’t seem to have as many large flowering plants here. Or maybe its just the style of public gardens favored here.
This week the weather has been warm (19C degrees! ) and spring is definitely in the air. I’m looking forward to the spring flowers and fresh air, even if I do wear a mask 🙂

Oh my gosh, IJK! This photo is fabulous! I can’t decide if it is his face, the mirror or the lighting in the market…….. that blue-green tarp ties the photo all together and really makes that photo, I think! I would not change a thing! Thanks for joining in again this week! Cady

So glad you’ve tuned in to one of the rhythms. I believe Asheville use to have a Friday night drum circle in town (although I’ve never been and with ccp/covid, who knows?) but you could still get there quicker than me. Perhaps it will be an adventure to add to your list.
