Challenge Your Camera: Close-Up

Today, for Dr B’s, Challenge Your Camera, we are to do close ups…..     The only close ups I do is of flowers…….any lower to the ground, I would not be able to get back up! Ha Ha! For the last 8 years or so, I have only taken photos  with my IPhone.  After looking at the photos I took in the Great Dixter Garden in Sussex, UK my choice of color to photograph that day were shades of purple!

As Dr B said, IPhones are really not meant to be for macro shots…….close-ups can be tricky as well…….I have a lot of trial and error photos as well, like this one! Must be because I tried to photograph a flower other than purple that day!

I hope you have enjoyed my bouquet of flowers!

Won’t you join Dr B and The Buddha Walks Into a Wine Bar for the latest challenge? He writes………..

Photography is one of those activities we can all have fun with and blog about, at home, in the garden, walking the streets, in the countryside, in a museum or gallery ….. the opportunities are endless. You can be a wizard or a novice with a camera or a smartphone, or a crafty manipulator with Photoshop, or Lightroom or Snapseed. It really doesn’t matter how you create your image because in the end it is a work of art, a creation, a memory, and possibly a source of inspiration to others. Blogging your images is easy too, few words needed, let the picture tell the story. And, very importantly in these strange times, it can give us a distraction, a positive focus, connect us with others, and build a community via our blogs. So why not join in, start snapping and sharing with me.

Each week Dr B is selecting a single theme to point his camera at or display a few photos from his collection as a way to brighten up the week as we enter a new year, which we all hope will be brighter than the last. If you would like to join him in #challengeyourcamera then here’s what to do:

1. Follow him to discover the weekly theme he has chosen.
2. Select a few photos related to the week’s theme
3. Post your own photos that week, any day you like.
4. Include a caption with each photo so we know what/where it is
5. Include a ping back/link to his blog in your post so that he is notified, can follow you back and can appreciate and comment on your choices.
6. Include the tag #challengeyourcamera

1. He will follow you back
2. He will encourage other posters to follow you
3. He will list each blogger in my weekly post

A bit of a mixture, were they all from your archives or taken in the last couple of days? I really would encourage you to try macro with your phone, try to get real close to a coin, a paper clip, a wine cork, a bottle top, a blade of grass or leaf brought in from your garden. Alternate between going ultra close with your camera and getting less close then pinching to zoom in. Let me know what happens and I’ll see if I can help.🤞 Wine post tomorrow and a hint at the end of my Wine Learning Challenge 🍷

    1. ALL archived! I’m not posting about a paper clip, coin or piece of grass! Ha Ha! But, I will practice and see how that turns out…

  3. Love the clicks.
All of them look great except the last one .
I guess the lens could not focus it properly hence blurred flowers.
    Background is perfectly sharp.
You can always check the clarity before you press the shutter.
I am an amateur and trying my level best to improve.
    Your featured linage is superb.
As Dr.B suggested you can alway go closer to the extent possible and check whether the lens is able to capture well.
Many lenses have minimal focal distance and you cannot go closer than this distance.
    Thank you .

    1. You would laugh if you saw me take a photograph! I take about 3 seconds, snap and move on……I don’t have the patience or the time for set ups. As we have gotten older we travel in small groups and I have learned to take photos this way because I don’t want to hold the group up……I am always amazed the photos come out as good as they do!

Ageing to some extent limitis our patience.
        It’s perfectly ok.
And moving in groups….my experience is similar to yours.
        No time…
        Keep moving….
