It’s a bright, clear, warm morning and we are pulling into Alesund, Norway! It has a spectacular setting, built on three islands close to the ocean with a backdrop of mountain peeks………… Alesund, (population 40,000) has a small city center and since we have been choosing to see the outposts in other spots in Norway, today we are going to take a walking tour of the city. But, first let’s get there!

We have docked and are ready to go!

The sign says this is an art nouveau town………what will we find?

This is our first of the many canals………..This would be a nice spot to wake up to!

walking further down the canal………..

This is what it used to look like…….yes, my boat is the one over there!

Boats of all sizes……..

and a good idea of Main Street………

Today, the area looks like this……..built up from the old warehouses along the canal………

with lovely gardens……..

and many architectural pieces…….

and even a telephone booth……..

This is one of my favorite spots…….a good way to get around the canals………

or you could take this boat…..

But, the Viking Boat says it all! Hop in!

We’ve made it past the canals, now to see the city. What will we find there? See you tomorrow!
How many photos did you take on your cruise? Enjoyed the tour of Alesund’s beautiful waterways.
