We have just returned from a month long trip to the Baltics and Norway! We had an amazing time and I will have several posts coming on all the wonderful places we visited! But, in the meantime, here is a look at just a few of the doors we found! We started our adventure in Stockholm, Sweden on a hot, sticky, 85 degree day! Isn’t this the neatest door?

From Stockholm we went to Tallinn, Estonia. It turned out to be one of our favorite cities! And what a great door this is……….I love the shades of blue-green with the grey!

We spent four days in St Petersburg, Russia. Do you know it rains 300 days of the year there? Yikes, very depressing. It didn’t rain on us, but it always felt gloomy. We did see the Hermitage Museum, the Faberge Museum, the Peterhof Museum and more, and we went one evening to the ballet……..lots more to come on Russia, but here is a door in the Hermitage Museum. Note the opulence here!

I went to the small village of Porvoo, Finland. It was my kind of favorite spot…….population around 200, in a very scenic location, with tiny, distinctive shops and lots of doors!

Riga, Latvia, was the biggest surprise of the entire trip. Truly, one of the most beautiful cities in the world……..and we had never heard of it! So, I give you the GREEN DOOR!

We had the most energetic, and enthusiastic tour guide in Klaipėda, Lithuania! This region, famous for its amber, had all us women in a tizzy! Let’s go through the gate first!

What charm was found in the coastal fishing village of Warnemünda, Germany…….   Here, on the walk to one of the oldest homes along the pier, I photographed a twofor! We met the nicest couple, who invited us into their home to share their tales of life after WWII and what they all dealt with. I learned a great deal and have many photos of this village! Be on the lookout for more great doors from Warnemünda! And, you will discover why there are so many doors like this here!

Copenhagen, Denmark took us by surprise…….what a big place it is! There is lots of traffic and that much more on all the bikes! Could have been Amsterdam! Here is the gateway to the amusement park in the center of the city!

Are you looking for the perfect village on the southern coast of Norway? Look no farther than Kristiansand! Loved all the color!

It poured all day in Bergen, Norway, but that didn’t stop us from having the best time! Lots of adventure here…..and interesting town folk. We took a long walk up a hill to the historic troll house and then walked along the pier, where we found fantastic doors, of course! This door was along the pier……the troll house is coming soon!

We traveled along some of the most beautiful fiords in the world to get to Harstad, Norway. On one of our visits, we toured the Rokenes Farm ………what a way to live and could you find a more perfect view? That’s not an outhouse, its the well house!

Bodø, Norway, pronounced Buda, was one of the highlights of our trip. Harstad and Bodø are both above the Arctic Circle, but it was so warm when we visited! The old Trading Post memories will stay with us forever…..what a find!

The town of Alesund, the largest town on the Northwest coast of Norway, was destroyed by fire in 1904. It was rebuilt shortly after in the Jugend-style. German emperor,  Wilhelm II, sent masons to rebuild the town. I’m glad he did, look at this find…….the Theater.

Norway is quite simply, spic and span! Here is a cottage door found on our walk from Farm to Farm! More on that to come…… hint: the goats loved us!

I can’t wait to share all my finds in Geiranger, Norway with you! Norway just got better and better! This is the real Norway! In my mind at least!

The sky set the tone for our time in Haugesund, Norway. Another great historic coastal village……wait until you see their ships!

I couldn’t get by without visiting at least one Botanical Garden……this one was in Göteburg, Sweden……

We finally arrived in Oslo, Norway…..Oh, so many doors……..here’s just a few!

PS, the Featured Photo of the bus, was along the gorgeous Aker Brygge, in Oslo. We could have spent weeks there and never got tired of the city!
