Today we are back in the Atlanta Botanical Garden to finish up my photos of the orchids in the Faqua Conservatory! I have never seen such a beautiful collection of exotics in one place! Check out the website for the Atlanta Botanical Garden HERE! There are many classes and events during the year starting with the Orchid Daze and continuing on with special events just for orchid lovers!
This beauty was one of my favorites! I called it the Camouflage Orchid!

Many of the exotic plants seemed to drip off the stems!

The way the plants were arranged made you want to investigate them all! There is a gardener on site to answer your questions too.

Weaving in and out of the leaves and stems were tiny, fragile looking flowers……..

How many dots do you think are on these petals?

Isn’t this one beautiful? And in my favorite color!

So many to see!

The plants were tucked in everywhere and arranged in and around water…….

I like plants with spots……..

These plants remind me of lipstick tubes! Isn’t that setting vibrant with all the textures, sizes, shapes, and shades of green?

These look so fragile!

Leaves of plants are just as interesting to me as the flowers!

There were fuzzy, wispy plants too………with great shaped leaves!

And some that just wanted to be tall!

I like green, brown and fuzzy………..

And this one grew like a tree!

Walking along in the different levels of the Conservatory there were several of these trees with great shreds that went from the top of the tree all the way to the ground! They were huge!

There is soooooooo much to see and do at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! I haven’t shown you all the different gardens, there was just so much time to focus on a few……….Be sure to check out their event page to see everything that is going on in the garden every day! We’ll be back in September to enjoy the garden again! I can hardly wait to return!
Yes, it really was quite special. It will take several trips to the Botanical Garden to see everything and then they change their programs and have so many to offer ( I am especially interested in the cooking series) that something will always be new to see there.
Of this selection, my two favorites are yours that looks like a Southern wildflower, something like “Lady’s Slipper,” I think, and the dotted magenta one above it. Who knew orchids had so many different forms?
I’m curious about their fragrance, or lack thereof. How would you describe it?
Jo, If there was a fragrance it was covered by the fragrance of the forest, or maybe it all blended in together? I didn’t get close enough to a single specimen to check for individuality. I was overwhelmed with the size of the garden and the number of plants! It was awesome and I was not even an orchid geek!
Fabulous display and great photos!
