WeekendCaféShare: I’m Back!

If we were having coffee I’d invite you to a sit on the front porch to watch the world go by……..and drink our morning coffees……..of course. I have missed our weekend chats and it seems I have been gone forever on VaCa.  Well, I was gone for four weeks to the Mediterranean and a couple of weeks Stateside before that, so I feel as if I have been gone most of the summer. Now, it has taken me two weeks just to catch up to everything and get back into a routine. It’s amazing how easy it is to fall out of a routine. And, it’s also amazing how quickly one can get out of a routine and enjoy a lovely VaCa! Truly, I think I am a totally different person on Vaca. There are no schedules, no have-to-dos, no cooking, no cleaning, no weeding, no writing. I turn my IPhone off and I don’t take a laptop or IPad! I just have fun!

Our VaCa began upon our arrival to Barcelona, the starting point for our Mediterranean Cruise. We have been to Barcelona before, so we just wanted to soak up the sun and relax on our first day of many to come. So where could we have our morning coffees, you wonder?

Well, we could have had them at ONE of the pools at the historic Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I Hotel, where we stayed in Barcelona. This hotel property covers six acres, which includes a world renowned spa and health club, named as one of the top 10 fitness centers in the world. Before 1992, Barcelona underwent extensive development for the 1992 Olympic Games to be held there. One special project on Avenue Diagonel, was the construction of the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, designed by Catalan architect, Carlos Ferrater.  This project won the National Architecture prize in 1993. During the Olympic Games the hotel was used to host heads of state; presidents, prime ministers, and royal families from all over the world. The five-star hotel was inaugurated by the King and Queen of Spain and overlooked the grounds, where many of the Olympic events were held. In 2014, the hotel was added into the Fairmont’s International Properties and the property  was restored into a first class urban resort, including the magnificent hotel (which I will talk about in my next post) 5 restaurants and bars, a 19th century lake with exotic species, and a private garden oasis for peaceful walks or jogging, and The Royal Polo Club Fitness and Spa.

So, we could have had our morning coffee here………

Or at the second pool area……..

or at one of the outdoor oases….where one could have a beer or wine at breakfast also………..

So, you see, I was thinking about you all along, as I relaxed and enjoyed my favorite beverage! Who wouldn’t love to have morning coffee here? It will take me a few days to catch up to everyone’s weekend coffee posts, but I will!

More to come! See you soon!

  1. Glad you’re back, all refreshed and ready for more weekend coffees. But not on my front porch, or back patio, either. The air quality in Washington state this month remains unhealthy from continuing forest fire smoke down from Canada. Maybe September? We’ll see.

      1. Thank you! Yes, the smoke has pretty much cleared in the past week. And lovely September has arrived. Septembers here are almost like an extended summer without the heat, but a bit chilly at night!

    1. Oh Jane we had the best time evah! My garden has been deluged with rain for weeks! I have weeds, more weeds and stuff growing where it should not be. So far all I’ve managed to do is fill the fountain with water! Ha ha! Will get on the weeds this week!

OOO, I’d love some coffee in Barcelona. I haven’t been there in a few years. I love the city, and all the fabulous buildings. I can never get enough of looking at the architecture. Thank you for taking me there today!
