Last Day in Columbus, Georgia

We have seen a great deal in Columbus and we have been busy! Isn’t this a great city? I think so. From the historic areas of fine architecture and antebellum homes to gardens and parks and oh, that beautiful river! I loved learning about the history of the city too! A lot has gone on here! I could spend days and days here just doing all the walks! But, today I am going to wrap it up with the Sculpture Walk. Many towns have their own walks, even my small spot in the world has some artwork to look at and remark upon. What is that exactly? We have one very unusual piece, but I won’t go there today as I have written about “IT” in other posts. So let’s begin our Sculpture Walk in Columbus!

The Sculpture Walk, Columbus, Georgia

There were interesting pieces all over the city; in the parks, in the neighborhoods, at the riverwalk. Everywhere! My favorites are always the people. I want to know about them!

And then there are the rusted or twisted metal pieces………..those seem to be very popular….many times the materials come from torn down buildings or represent something from the past.

Some of the pieces weren’t sculptured, but kept because of their history. There were many signs to discover too.

There were many patriotic symbols too.

and some that I found quite interesting………….

and were these pieces created from trim from old houses? I really like these! I think it looks like a southern belle standing on her porch! And she ain’t too happy either! Ha Ha!

If you like history, art, and walking, you will love visiting Columbus, Georgia. I think the Sculpture Walk certainly defined the city! Another peek of our American heritage! I’ll see you in another city soon!

Interesting sculptures, Cady Luck. 🙂 🙂 I’m featuring a very different kind of sculpture walk next Monday, and I’d like to include this in the links.
