We’re at the port in Barcelona and today is the last day of our cruise…………..now for three days in Barcelona……..it looks like it might rain on us!

Or is it clearing up? The beach looks nice and so does the strand.

We have hired a private tour guide for an eight hour tour of the highlights of Barcelona. Then our plan is to go back and get an in-depth view into the sights we really wanted to know more about! We have three days! Can we see everything? I don’t know! So, here is a smorgasbord of doors from around the city! Most of these were taken from the car or a quick, jump-out-in-traffic to get a photo!
First to the parks! Here’s an interesting building! It is Poble Espanol……..an open-air museum of a Spanish Village in Barcelona, which reveals Spain’s diverse art, architecture, gastronomy and handicrafts. It features the Fran Daurel Museum — home to paintings by Picasso and Dalí — where you can discover architectural styles from Andalusia, and watch craftspeople plying their trade in ceramics, glass, leather and jewelry. And you can sample paella and tapas from across Spain! Hmmmm……I hope I have time to come back here!

Then there are the MEN……….Men on Horses…….in front of the arches…….

And a Man (Gaudi) in a Strange Doorway…….more about him in another post……..

Big Arches…….

and from another view…….

And a cool doorway and even cooler gate……….

Then the spice peach building…….where IRIS must live…….and has her own doorway……

And the pink sherbet building…….

Apricot colored buildings……with art deco trim………

And the glass buildings……

and really ornate doors along the boulevard……

The Moods building reveal a flag or two…..or ten……..when they’re in the mood………

Refined doors in an exclusive neighborhood…..

And really fancy ornate doors…..

Church doors……

And to the streets we go! After a day of riding all around Barcelona, and hopping out for lunch……another post….
and going to a museum…….another post…..
and a remote neighborhood monastery………..another post….we are making our way through the streets to our hotel…….

and they get narrow…….

where the locals live and work……..

under one more doorway……

To the Hotel Colona to call it a day!

Tomorrow is another day in this fabulous city! We better get some rest; we have a big day ahead of us and lots to see and do! See you next time!
This is just one of many photos in the Thursday Door Collection featured by Norm2.0! Won’t you join in or take a peak at all the doors?
Your photos have whetted my appetite to visit Barca again. Just a comment, when you say “Apricot colored buildings……with art deco trim…” I thought it looked more Moorish than art deco?

Phew, I’m exhausted, but it was worth it! Although the glass building isn’t my favorite, I love the planters all the way around it. So good for the air, the insects, and the mood.

Ahhh – beautiful Barcelona! I long to return to visit her again some day for a re-do of my first visit – in the pouring rain and freezing temperature. Your version looks so much better than mine!!

Thanks for taking us on this tour of doors. I loved our visit last summer to Barcelona – it is such a fascinating place – and recognise a few of the places you’ve shown us. 🙂

Recently learned thru DNA that I have more heritage from this part of Europe than from Ireland. Pure shock for me but so intrigued now! Love seeing your beautiful pics!
