It was a bright early Sunday morning when we traveled nineteen miles from the Port of Lisbon to the coastal fishing village and resort of Cascais. That could be me looking back for Cascais! Of all the places we have visited, so far, on our cruise, this is the one place I think I could live! I loved everything about it! The parks, the beaches, the restaurants, the shopping, everything was perfect! No wonder this has been the retirement spot for Kings and Queens! Now let’s go look around! We were dropped off at the park and then made a leisurely stroll back towards the main square.

This tree must be a keeper for a reason!

There was a variety of cobblestone streets, which makes Cascais so charming!

Let’s go in this direction first…..getting off the beaten path…….

Getting closer to our destination, how about a stop at the Crowbar? Love that name and sign!

It is so nice walking on this Sunday morning…….. The buildings are only two level high and the streets are wide enough to get all that glorious sun! Or you could stop and get the morello cherry liqueur, Ginja de Óbidos!

or join the militia……

You won’t have to look far for an Irish Pub either……… there are several……….

or restore a church that has seen better days……..

Back on the main street to the square we find……shops, shops and more shops………

The sunny orange flowers match the orange tiled roofs…………along the main avenue…….

Into the main square…..how about that palm tree shadow?

And looking in this direction……..

There are always those to be remembered…….

I could just while away the day on this balcony………..

Or live in the pink house above O’Neill’s………

or maybe this section of skinny buildings…….with lots of sun……..see our palm tree shadow again?

here he is!

Getting closer to the beach………

Turn the other way and the Maritime Police are right here too……..

And some really nice hotels…..

and my very favorite, the big, red, praying hands……..right on the beach! I think they are praying that you will get to come back! I know I am!

Well back to the bus, we have two more stops today!! See you there!
