My last two posts have featured photos of Pinehurst and Southern Pines, NC, deemed two of the best small towns to live, in North Carolina. I really, really like small town life. Less traffic, stops to sit a spell and watch the world go by, great community living, and plenty to see, places to shop, and small eateries everywhere! These villages are side by side and each offer it’s own delights. Today, I have a few more photos of some lamp posts in Southern Pines, you know how I like quirky lamp posts, and then we are heading back to finish off our walk through the 27-acre Sandhills Horticultural Gardens. I have so enjoyed that walk!

And now to the more formal gardens. To see what Pinehurst is all about look HERE. We are heading back to the forested trail that takes us through many specialized gardens that are open daily to the public and maintained by the Landscape and Design School, which is also here. What a paradise this labor of love is…….. let’s get walking………

The next garden to visit is the Jane McPhaul Herb Garden, introduced in 2011.

And then to the Sir Walter Raleigh Garden……… peaceful isn’t it?

This featured plant is eucalyptus!

With Sir Walter himself!

And I did see flowers in the gardens too………

And sugary silvered leaves……….

Bright Red Cockscomb……..

And the palest of pales…….

And the favorite magnolia blossom……………aren’t those dark leaves outstanding?

Then through the dark green gate…….. where will this path take us?

To the gardens of big banana leaves……. compare their size to the garden walkers! OH MY!

With some spikes in the mix……

And then to the Conifer Grove…….. where I will find my favorite!

My look at this fellow…….. he looks a little sad……

It’s branches reach out and out………..

I whisper to him, your my favorite…..

It’s time to leave the garden….. What a wonderful walk we had! For a look at other sections of the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens look HERE

Well I hope you have enjoyed our Monday Walk as much as I did! So relaxing! Check out what others are doing on their Monday walks with Jo! Till next week……………..cady
