The Heiliggeist, or Holy Ghost is a favorite restaurant!

You know me, there would have to be one photo of food!

And how about all these off, misplaced and mismatched windows above the arch?

We’ll finish this week with a very short light fixture! I’ll leave the light on! See you next week!

I’m starting to fall in love with this city! I simply love the architecture, right down to the building with the misaligned and different sized windows. It works!

My favourite is the 2nd door. Arches are always a plus, but adding that flattened peak on top looks so unique.

I agree. I’d never heard of Mainz before your post and even had to look it up on Google Maps.

    2. Joanne the second door had a huge sign that said OPEN printed on white paper! I had to photoshop it and take the sign out! Geesh!

Great shots, but I am not too keen on the architecture. Lunch looks ok, though.

What a name for a restaurant! But your doors are all beautiful! Was in Mainz one time during Christmas to visit our friends (we then lived in Holland or Berlin, so long ago, don’t remember)

    1. As you can tell from the photo the restaurant was a previous church. Possibly the Holy Ghost ? I don’t know.

Oh my what a lovely town that I must admit until your post last week, I had never heard of before. And now I just want to visit this place! Everything is so beautiful but what really caught my eye was the pretty patterns in the cobblestone streets.

Thanks for the tour and doors. I love hat eclectic mix of windows. There must be a great story behind them.

    1. Historic buildings always have a charm! What makes these so great is they were all restored after WWII when they were left to rubble! A testament to the German people and the French who were in charge of the re-building!
