Color Your World: Almond Joy

Almond Joy Coffee

For those of you not familiar with an Almond Joy it is a candy bar consisting of  two coconut bars with two almonds on each top and then covered in milk chocolate.  Oh, the joy of it! I could drink this almond joy coffee while eating the Almond Joy!

The  Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company was founded by six Armenian immigrants in 1919, introducing the Mounds bar in 1921, which became a hit with the U.S. military during WWII.   By 1944, the military purchased 80% of their production for use in rations (5 million bars/month). The Almond Joy bar was introduced in 1946.  Almond Joys are as old as I am!

Here is a recipe for Almond Joy Coffee Creamer………….

1 1/2 cup milk (I use fat free or not)

2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 can (14 Oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp almond extract

1 tsp coconut flavoring

Directions:

In small saucepan whisk together 1/2 cup of the milk and cocoa powder.

Heat on low whisking continuously until combined (about 3 minutes)

Whisk in remaining ingredients and pour into quart size mason jar with lid

Shake vigorously before serving

Store in refrigerator.
